Middle-earth: Shadow of War made its debut on Tuesday, and within just a day of its release, the DRM protection on the PC version was cracked, allowing for widespread sharing of the game online. The PC edition employs Denuovo’s DRM system, which was swiftly bypassed following its launch, as reported by Eurogamer via DSOGaming.
Denuvo’s anti-tampering measures, along with others, aim to combat piracy. Comparatively, Eurogamer noted that Mass Effect: Andromeda’s DRM was bypassed in 10 days, while Resident Evil 7’s took just under a week to crack.

Notably, titles like Total War: Warhammer 2 have also fallen victim to cracks within a day, casting doubt on the efficacy of Denuvo. With its diminishing ability to deter piracy, coupled with restrictions imposed on legitimate users, such as activation limits across different PCs, the utility of Denuvo appears increasingly dubious, potentially squandering both financial resources and player goodwill.
